2 Arrested for Vandalizing SBI ATM in Itanagar while attempting to steal cash

Two people were arrested by Capital Police for allegedly vandalizing an SBI ATM booth machine in Ganga, Itanagar, while attempting to steal money in the wee hours of August 2.

The alleged perpetrators have been identified as Banu Jorum (40) of Forest Colony, Chandranagar, and Takam Sampa (20).

On August 3, a written FIR was received from Prasanna Borah of NCR Corporation India Pvt Ltd, Guwahati (Assam)which oversees the installation and operation of SBI ATMs across the northeastern region.

The complaint alleged that unknown individuals had damaged an ATM machine in Ganga, Itanagar, around 3:00 AM on August 2nd, while attempting to steal cash.

Upon receipt of the FIR, a case under Sections 305(a), 62, 3(5) of BNSR Act and Section 3 of PDPP Act was registered.

A Special Investigation Team consisting of Inspr. K. Yangfo OC PS Itanagar, SI. Randhir Kumar Jha (Investigating Officer), CT. K. Atraham, CT. P. Tara and CT. M. Kino was constituted led by Kengo Dirchi, SDPO Itanagar under close supervision of Rohit Rajbir Singh IPS, SP Itanagar.

Further investigation revealed the identity of the unknown perpetrators as Banu Jorum and Takam Sampa. Both individuals were arrested within 24 hours of the case being filed.

Both accused have been sent to judicial custody, capital police informed in a press release.
