Couple and Their Staff Report Cockroach in Food, End Up Robbed and Assaulted by Hotel Staff in Subansiri Eateries Point

ITANAGAR I May I 29 :

A disturbing incident came to light in which a couple and their staff were allegedly assaulted , robbed, and verbally abused by staff of a hotel in Assam when they asked for a replacement of food after finding a cockroach in it and tried to film the food when hotel staff denied a replacement.

The staff were from Junu Hotel located at Subansiri eateries Point in Assam. The incident occurred on May 15th.

According to the FIR filed by victim’s , the couple complained about the contaminated food and requested a replacement. However, the hotel staff refused to replace the food and verbally abused them when they attempted to film the cockroach in the vegetables served.

The situation escalated further when three additional staff members emerged, snatched the victim’s phone, and proceeded to assault the victim, his wife, and his staff.

A FIR filed by the victims at the Itanagar Police Station alleges that the assailants (hotel staff) stole Rs 46,000 from their car and attempted to take the victim’s suitcase and car keys.

Fortunately, the victims managed to escape the scene. During their escape, the person who snatched the phone and cash threw a stone, shattering the vehicle’s windshield.

It’s important to note that Subansiri Point in Assam is a popular stopover for travelers from Arunachal Pradesh heading towards western Arunachal or coming to Itanagar. Travellers from Arunachal Pradesh stopping at these stopovers contribute significantly to the local economy.
This incident, involving the serving of unhygienic food followed by assault and snatching, is completely uncalled for.
The victims have lodged a complaint at the Itanagar Police Station, seeking a thorough investigation into the matter.

The Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Federation (APPTF) has also responded to the incident, urging authorities to take action against the hotel and its staff.

Tabiram Moyong, the APPTF president of the East Siang unit, spoke to the media on Wednesday, stating that the APPTF will demand strict action until the perpetrators are apprehended.
