SCCZ Freshers’ Meet held, Techi Gomb and Biri Mamu Win Mr and Miss Fresher Title

Saint Claret College, Ziro (SCCZ), held a vibrant Freshers’ Meet ‘24 on the theme, ‘Journey to Excellence’, on Saturday. The event, a hallmark of the college’s tradition, was filled with joy, enthusiasm, and a spirit of camaraderie, setting a positive tone for the students’ college journey.

After a series of rounds showcasing their talents, personalities, and quick-thinking abilities, Mr. Techi Gomb of theDepartment of Mass Communication and Ms. Biri Mamu of the Department of Political Science were crowned Mr. and Ms. Fresher 2024, respectively. 

Principal of the college, Dr. Fr. Allwyn Mendoz, in his speech, emphasized the importance of diligence and integrity in academics, reminding students that in academics as well, the proverb “As you sow, so shall you reap”, holds good. He encouraged the freshers to work hard and stay committed, stating that such dedication would be rewarded with excellence. 

He also reiterated the college’s stance against the use of contraband substances, urging students to refrain from such practices and focus on their growth and development.

Assistant Professor, Dr. Sonisha R. Syiem extended a warm welcome to the freshers on behalf of the management, staffand seniors. She encouraged the new students to adopt qualities such as being “available, believable, changeable, and doable” as they embark on their journey to excellence. She further spoke about the importance of readiness and goal-setting, highlighting that campus life is colourful and wonderful, providing ample opportunities to develop good character. 

She urged the freshers to set priorities, believe in themselves, and embrace changeability for self-improvement. She further emphasized determination and perseverance, encouraging students to never give up on their dreams and aspirations.

The highlight of the event was the talent show, where freshers displayed their skills in singing, rapping, and dancing. The audience was thrilled by the diverse performances, reflecting the varied backgrounds and talents of the new students. The senior students performed lively programmes, which werewell-received, earning loud applause and cheers from the crowd.
