ITANAGAR I Dec I 15 :
The Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society (APWWS) has extended its deepest condolences to the families of three students who tragically lost their lives in a water tank collapse at St. Alphonsa School in Model Village.
In a press release, the APWWS expressed its wishes for a swift and full recovery for the injured students.
“We are beyond heartbroken by the tragic loss of three precious lives—Ekam Bagang, Rei Dol, and Marsu Dubi—who were Class 9 students at St. Alphonsa School in Model Village when an overhead water tank collapsed near the school’s assembly shed on Saturday morning,” the APWWS stated in their release.
The APWWS highlighted that this tragedy has underscored the urgent need for improved safety measures in schools.
“We have repeatedly warned about the deteriorating conditions of schools across the state, particularly in the capital region, where safety protocols are often neglected,” the statement read.
The organization emphasized the necessity of addressing issues such as schools without playgrounds and overcrowded hostels lacking basic safety standards. “It is the responsibility of both school authorities and government agencies to ensure the safety of our children,” the APWWS added.
The APWWS has called for immediate action to implement safety measures and conduct thorough checks to prevent further tragedies. “Our children deserve to study in a secure environment, free from such hazards,” said Kani Nada Maling, President of the Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society.
