Awareness Program on Semi-Intensive Mithun Rearing Practices Held

A daylong awareness program on semi-intensive Mithun rearing practices was conducted at Lorging Village in Siang District.

The morning session, organized by the Jomlo Mongku Mithun Farmer Federation, Siang District, in collaboration with ICAR – National Research Centre on Mithun, Medziphema, Nagaland, under the Government of India, focused on raising awareness about semi-intensive Mithun farming methods.

The technical support team provided valuable insights into deworming, the benefits of vaccination, and the use of mineral mixtures, while also encouraging farmers to adopt semi-intensive farming practices.

In addition, support was extended in the form of barbed wire and night shelters to enhance Mithun conservation units.

The afternoon session included participation in the completion ceremony of the Mithun Conservation Fencing Unit at Mori Village, Siang District.

During the ceremony, essential items such as mineral mixtures, productivity and fertility medications, deworming medicines, and first aid kits were distributed to aid in Mithun care.

Furthermore, an assurance was given regarding continued support, including the supply of 50 units of barbed wire. Both sessions were highly productive, motivating Mithun farmers and boosting their morale.
