Chimpu Police Conduct Surprise Inspection of Shops Near Schools Selling Tobacco Products

A surprise mass inspection of various shops located within 100 meters of school premises involved in selling tobacco items was conducted by the Chimpu police on Sunday.
The raid targeted areas near educational institutions such as VKV School, Sangey Laden Sports Academy, Kendriya Vidyalaya-2, and other nearby schools.
Capital,Deputy Commissioner, Talo Potom, IAS, also participated in the surprise inspection. He issued warnings of legal action under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) if the same offense is committed in the future.
“This operation aims to ensure a safe and healthy environment for school children. The raids will be intensified in the coming days to reinforce compliance and promote a positive atmosphere around educational institutions,” stated the Chimpu police in a press release.
The raid was led by SDPO Itanagar Kengo Dirchi and included OC Inspector Neeraj Nishant, SI S. K. Jha, and ASI Manish Kumar under the supervision of SP Itanagar Rohit Rajbir Singh, IPS.
