Former Legislators Hail Budget 2025-26, praise its “Pro-People & Inclusive Development Focus”

ITANAGAR I Mar I 13 :

The Former Legislator’s Welfare Association (FLWA) welcomed the 2025-26 budget presented by Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, who also serves as the Minister In-charge of Finance & Planning, and applauded Chief Minister Pema Khandu for delivering an excellent budget focused on inclusive development for the state.

In a press release, the former lawmakers appreciated Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s leadership in presenting an exceptionally pro-people budget for 2025-26, which will significantly benefit the state’s residents.

“The FLWA conveys its gratitude to the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister for their reformative vision, enthusiasm, and dynamic outlook, all of which were clearly reflected in this year’s budget presentation,” it stated.

The FLWA highlighted several points they considered particularly important for the greater interest of the state and its people. It pointed out that the enhancement of Rs. 6,000/- for each category of non-regular government employees is a major step taken for the welfare of these employees.

The FLWA stated that the government’s investment in people, infrastructure, the economy, and innovation represents an excellent and inclusive development agenda.

It termed the decision to decentralize power, with the government opting for bottom-up development planning by allocating funds to the tune of Rs. 1,000 Crores to be recommended through district administrations, as the most effective development planning strategy of the state government.

“The proposed third-party monitoring will undoubtedly ensure the effective implementation of development schemes through various agencies. The proposed budget announcement monitoring cell, to be established at the CMO as announced by the Chief Minister, is a commendable decision by the government,” it commended.

Furthermore, the FLWA noted that the government’s decision to increase the number of secretaries from the state APCS cadre will effectively distribute the workload and expedite the state’s working system.

It also lauded the decision to bring reforms to the education department by emphasizing quality over quantity, including the closure of many non-functional schools. Importantly, the allocation of Rs. 3,000 crores to the education department will significantly uplift the department and provide quality education to children, which is a unique development.
