Notorious Thief Wanted in Multiple Vehicle Theft Cases Arrested
Rani I August I 1:
A notorious thief, wanted in multiple vehicle theft cases and who had absconded after stealing a Mahindra Thar from Rani village on April 22, 2024, was arrested by East Siang District Police on July 31.
The accused has been identified as Sandip Kumar Das alias Sanjiv Kumar Das of Dhemaji, Assam. He was nabbed from Tezpur town, Sonitpur district by East Siang Police.
Das was on the run after stealing a Mahindra Thar from Rani village on April 22, 2024. A case was registered at Sille Oyan Police Station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code
Das, who was the suspected accused in the case, was under continuous surveillance by East Siang Police. Based on various inputs, Das was apprehended from Tezpur town of Sonitpur District.
The stolen Mahindra Thar vehicle was also recovered with the help of Tezpur Sadar thana Police.
It has been revealed that Das is a habitual offender with multiple cases registered against him in other districts, including Likabali. He has been declared a proclaimed offender by a court in one of the cases.
The operation was conducted by SDPO, Ruksin, Ayup Boko, OC Sille -Oyan SI Yike Lomri, Ct. K. Mingki, Ct. J. Koyu,Ct. R. Kopak and Ct. W Bangsia under the active supervision of SP, East Siang, Dr. Sachin Kumar Singhal.
