Purple Fair Showcases Divyangjans’ Handmade Wonders and Talents

ITANAGAR I Mar I 22 :
A Purple Fair for Divyangjans, featuring stalls showcasing handmade crafts and a cultural extravaganza, was held in 2025 at Dree Ground, Naharlagun, under the theme ‘Empowering Abilities, Celebrating Inclusion.
The fair was organized by the Regional Centre, Naharlagun, under the administrative control of the National Institute for Locomotor Disabilities (Divyangjan), Kolkata, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
Dr. Moromor Lego, Former Director of the Directorate of Health and Services, Government of Arunachal Pradesh (GoAP), graced the event as Chief Guest, while Yumlam Kaha, Director of SAJETA, GoAP, attended as Guest of Honour.
The fair featured cultural performances by students from Donyi Polo Mission School for the Hearing and Visually Impaired, Chimpu, K. Blooming Centre, Toko Rehab Centre, Naharlagun, and other persons with disabilities, who showcased their talents.
Various stalls displayed products crafted by differently-abled individuals, including items from the Purple Juice Centre, handicrafts, beadwork, and handmade goods, along with a special handicraft stall by the Oju Welfare Association, Naharlagun, selling items made by their students.
The event highlighted the importance of inclusivity, accessibility, and empowerment for persons with disabilities.
