Search Continues for 14-Year-Old Girl Who Drowned in Pare River

Search parties have been unable to recover the body of Biki Richa, a 14-year-old girl who drowned in the Pare River near Midpu on Sunday afternoon. The search operation, which began on Sunday, continues as of Monday.
Richa, a resident of Ngay Colony in Nirjuli is currently studying in the 9th grade at Donyi Polo hearing & Visually Impaired School in Chimpu.
Richa, who has hearing and speech impairments, was reported missing on Sunday. Following a distress call received by DEOC Yupia, a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team led by Inspector Binu promptly arrived at the scene by 3:40 PM and began a search operation.
Despite extensive efforts over the past two days, Richa’s body has not yet been recovered. The search was called off at 6:00 PM on Monday due to poor visibility and will resume on Tuesday.
The NDRF team is working diligently alongside AAPDA volunteers under the guidance of Operation Instructor Taw Tara and DDMO Nima Tashi to locate and retrieve Richa’s body.
Deputy Commissioner of Papumpare, Jiken Bomjen Yupia,also visited the site today to monitor the ongoing search efforts.
